transition, making their involvement essential to the success of this initiative. iColo, a Digital Realty company and a strategic data centre partner for the London Internet Exchange( LINX) in Africa, has supported the transition for the recent co-operative agreement between LINX and Asteroid Kenya.
The announcement in September 2025 saw LINX and Asteroid come together to start the transition of their customers in Mombasa and Nairobi to LINX’ s interconnection hubs in Kenya before a cessation of operations at Asteroid Kenya at the end of 2025.
iColo’ s data centre facilities, Mombasa One( MBA1) in Miritini and Mombasa Two( MBA2) in Nyali, host the majority of the Asteroid customer networks impacted by this
Nurani Nimpuno, Head of Global Engagement for LINX, commented:“ The support of our partners iColo in this project is crucial and we are grateful that we have such a close and collaborative relationship. We share the vision of improving interconnection and digital infrastructure in Kenya – always with the focus of providing excellent services and forging strong relationships.”
“ Our teams are working closely and giving the customers and soon-to-be LINX members a one-to-one service to discuss their needs and wants when it comes to their network. It has been great to see how smooth the transition has been so far, with so many Kenyan networks joining LINX and gaining access to a whole suite of new interconnection services.”
Huawei launches open-access SuperPoD architecture for all-scenario computing
Huawei has launched its new SuperPoD architecture, as well as multiple related products including cards, modules, servers and clusters.
The company aims to collaborate with more industry players to create a solid computing backbone for all scenarios using this new architecture.
Yang Chaobin, Huawei’ s Director of the Board and CEO of the ICT Business Group, explained:“ Huawei has developed the groundbreaking SuperPoD architecture based on our UnifiedBus interconnect protocol. This architecture deeply interconnects physical servers so that they can learn, think and reason like a single logical server. This has created a new paradigm for large-scale compute that is more efficient, reliable and scalable.
“ Using SuperPoD, we will be able to advance innovation under our Ascend umbrella and develop a full lineup of SuperPoD products.
“ These products will provide compute for large data centres, enterprise data centres and small-size workstations, and so, SuperPoD technology will benefit every industry. At the same time, we are committed to our open-hardware and open-source-software approach that will help more partners develop their own industryscenario-based SuperPoD solutions. This will accelerate developer innovation and foster a thriving ecosystem.”
Huawei’ s new SuperPoD architecture is based on its UnifiedBus protocol, which delivers a number of notable new features, including strong resource pooling, scaling and long-term stability. p
