AI-powered water management research and development to strengthen water security in South Africa

leader in industrial automation and Digital Transformation

A solutions for over 30 years, Adroit Technologies is advancing its research and development( R & D) into an AI-powered Water Management Platform designed to tackle one of South Africa’ s most urgent infrastructure challenges: non-revenue water losses.

The R & D presents an opportunity to develop a first-of-its-kind AIdriven‘ pseudo-metering’ capability that can infer consumption and pressure data in areas where physical metres are not installed.“ We have proven the initial concept and have now secured the support of the government and other industry leaders to develop this AI-driven platform,” said Frits Kok, Co-CEO at Adroit Technologies.
With nearly 40 % of treated water lost to leaks, theft and ageing infrastructure, the platform uses advanced Machine Learning and neural network algorithms to analyse telemetry and SCADA data to detect leaks, forecast demand and infer flow rates – paving the way for more transparent municipal water systems.
Adroit Technologies’ research aims to integrate AI tools with existing SCADA and telemetry systems to deliver predictive analytics, realtime alerts and actionable insights. The AI-driven‘ pseudo-metering’ will help under-resourced municipalities monitor previously‘ datablind’ areas.
The company is developing a national-level AI framework using forecasting, anomaly detection and digital twin modelling, supported by a hybrid neural network architecture and self-healing data middleware.“ This research is about enabling resilience,” said Hugo Pienaar, Director of Digital Services. As the R & D progresses, these AI capabilities will be introduced into Adroit’ s existing water management technologies to strengthen South Africa’ s water security and sustainability.

Africa Data Centres and CSSi South Africa partner to bring expanded data storage capabilities to South African enterprises

Africa Data Centres, a business of Cassava Technologies, a global technology leader of African heritage, has entered a strategic partnership with CSSi SA, a leading cloud and VM provider and distributor of data storage, servers and data centre equipment. Under the agreement, CSSi SA have structured an alliance to deploy racks and provide data sovereignty for South African customers, with up to three tiers of redundancy between three different data centre footprints.

Located at Africa Data Centres’ facilities in Cape Town( CPT1) and Johannesburg( JHB1) and connected with 100GB links to CipherVault in Midrand, the availability of these racks will meet the growing local demand for redundant, reliable and next-generation data storage and colocation services.
“ CSSi SA’ s expansion into our South African facilities underscores the critical need for secure, high-performance data storage solutions in an era of rapid Digital Transformation,” said Adil El Youssefi, Chief Executive Officer of Africa Data Centres.
CSSi SA’ s data centre – CipherVault in Midrand, Johannesburg – will connect to Africa Data Centres’ JHB1 facility, providing seamless connectivity and redundant solutions to enhance operational efficiency and ensure business continuity.
“ The ability to leverage scalability, partner with the best data centre provider today in South Africa and use economies of scale which allow us to reduce the cost of data centre operations for our customers was always the key reason for this partnership, we are honoured to have a partner such as ADC,” said James Grcic, CEO of CSSi SA.
Through this partnership, CSSi SA strengthens its ability to deliver high-performance, scalable solutions and significantly reduces barriers to entry for clients.“ We see this partnership as unique, providing it right here in SA for South Africa,” said Adil.
