Ismahill Diaby, Vice-President and General Manager for Western and Central Francophone and Lusophone Africa at Visa, said:“ By combining Visa’ s trusted technology with Orange Money’ s local reach, this partnership offers a simple, secure way for more people and small businesses to pay online.”
Orange serves more than 173 million customers across 17 African countries, with 45 million active Orange Money accounts supported by Visa’ s global payments infrastructure. •
Under the partnership, the Orange Money Visa virtual card allows users to make secure online payments on local and international websites. The virtual card can be created instantly through the Max it app and funded directly from a user’ s Orange Money account. A physical card will be introduced at authorised Orange Money points of sale at a later stage.
Following the initial deployments, the service will be gradually extended to additional markets including Guinea, Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Orange Money said the partnership aligns closely with its mission to promote financial inclusion by simplifying access to digital services and enabling broader participation in the digital economy.
