Ethio Telecom has announced the launch of teleStream, a new Internet-based content streaming service, alongside a Zero-touch digital system designed to modernise fixed broadband delivery across Ethiopia.

According to the operator, teleStream leverages its existing fibre, 4G and 5G infrastructure, alongside telecloud and the telebirr payment ecosystem, to deliver enhanced streaming experiences. The service offers more than 60 live television channels and over 350 videoon-demand titles, accessible through fixed broadband or SIM-enabled devices using a set-top box.

The operator also highlighted benefits for businesses such as hotels, stating that teleStream enables high-quality entertainment delivery without complex installations. It added that the platform can support education, healthcare and government communication by distributing digital learning materials and public information nationwide.
In addition, Ethio Telecom said teleStream contributes to Smart City development by reducing satellite dish clutter and enhancing digital sovereignty through locally hosted content.
Alongside teleStream, the company confirmed significant progress in upgrading its broadband infrastructure. It reported deploying over 14,000 km of metro fibre and migrating more than 79,000 customers from copper networks to fibre connections.
Ethio Telecom added that its‘ Fiber to the Room’ service delivers high-speed connectivity directly to specific areas within homes or businesses, supporting advanced applications such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud services and smart home technologies. •
