Angola’ s Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication has launched a national data centre and government platform aimed at improving cybersecurity, reducing operational costs and expanding access to digital public services.
The project forms part of the country’ s broader Digital Transformation strategy and is designed to localise sensitive government data while strengthening investor confidence and positioning Angola as an emerging digital hub in southern Africa.
The launch also reflects a wider trend across Africa, where the oil and gas industry is increasingly supporting the expansion of digital infrastructure through power generation, industrial investment and connectivity projects.

Heirs Energies – a Lagos-headquartered indigenous energy company – has deployed Starlink-powered connectivity to transform asset management at remote oilfield sites, meaning it is set to scale both production and digital capacity across its Nigerian operations.
The rollout is enabling real-time monitoring, reliant communications and advanced IoT integration, strengthening uptime, efficiency and data-driven field performance.
A December 2025 loan supports the company’ s growing Digital Transformation efforts and highlights a wider trend of African organisations funding major projects within Africa, rather than relying on overseas lenders.
