WSO2 opens first Africa-based office in Johannesburg
WSO2, a global enterprise digital infrastructure company generating more than $ 100 million in annual recurring revenue, has opened its first African office in Johannesburg, South Africa, strengthening its presence on the continent.
The expansion reflects Africa’ s growing importance to WSO2 as governments, financial institutions, telecommunications operators and retailers accelerate the modernisation of legacy systems and prepare their technology environments for AI adoption.
The company plans to expand into additional markets across East, West and North Africa over the coming years through what it describes as a measured, partnership-led strategy.
The Johannesburg opening comes ahead of WSO2Con Africa, the company’ s flagship technology conference, which will take place in Nairobi from September 22 to 24. It will mark the first time the event has been held in Africa and will bring together business and technology leaders to discuss modernisation, integration, digital sovereignty and agentic AI.
“ Africa isn’ t a peripheral market for WSO2. It’ s one of the fastest-growing parts of our business, and this office launch reflects our long-term commitment to the region,” said Dinal Gooneratne, Vice President and General Manager for Africa at WSO2.
He added that organisations across Africa were moving from technology experimentation towards execution, with the Johannesburg office enabling WSO2 to work more closely with customers and partners on modernisation and AI adoption. •
