This is always a challenge; the best practice
states that you should always remove old
cabling when any new install is carried
out; therefore it is important to choose the
correct integrator that follows best practice
without cutting corners.

As it can be difficult to replace
cabling inside walls and under floors
etc how can installation standards
be maintained?
Cabling is the most difficult, labour intensive
and disruptive piece of the network
infrastructure to replace. Hence for any new
installations, it is always recommended to
use higher category cables, which support
higher data rates. It is recommended to
specify cabling solutions that, at a minimum,
support 10 Gb/s transmission required for
10GBASE T network equipment and the
most economical choices include shielded
cabling such as category 6A F/UTP and
category 7A S/FTP balanced copper twisted-
pair cabling. n
