PROJECT UPDATE
ALGERIA
Emerson, in partnership with Fores
Engineering, has signed a US$32 million contract
with Sonatrach, Algeria’s state energy company, to
modernise its gas processing plant in Alrar. As part of the
contract, Emerson will combine its innovative technologies
and operational certainty methodology to optimise
Sonatrach’s production operations and improve the reliability
and security of the Alrar plant’s processes. The project includes
the engineering procurement, commissioning and testing
of the new integrated control and safety systems, fire and
gas systems, boosters and compressor controls, field
instrumentation, liquid and gas metering skids, control
and isolation valves, and other equipment
for improved production efficiencies,
equipment reliability and safety.
SIERRA LEONE
The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, has
announced the creation of an Innovation in Government
Incubator that will digitise public services and apply data-
driven solutions to government. The initiative will fall under
the recently formed Directorate of Science, Technology and
Innovation (DSTI), which will work with local start-ups, private,
public and academic organisations to collaborate on projects
that will help citizens access government services and
information more efficiently. It will also provide an
opportunity for young people to participate, innovate
and solve challenges in their local communities.
