NEWS Andela secures funding to build distributed engineering teams Andela, which has tech campuses in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, was founded in 2014 to connect Africa’s engineering talent with the demand for software developers worldwide. In four years, Andela has assessed more than 100,000 applicants, hired 1,000 software developers, and integrated them into hundreds of companies, such as Cloudflare, Percolate, and InVision. With the Series D funding, Andela will accelerate the development of its technology platform to identify, develop and match talent at scale. By doing so, Andela will provide its customers with the data they need to understand developer performance and better manage distributed teams. The company will also expand its presence across Africa to meet the global demand for high-quality engineering talent. A ndela, a company building distributed engineering teams with Africa’s top software developers, has announced the completion of a US$100M Series D funding. The round was led by Generation Investment Management with participation from existing investors including Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, GV, Spark Capital, and CRE Venture Capital. The most recent financing brings Andela’s total venture funding to US$180M. “It’s increasingly clear that the future of work will be distributed, in part due to the severe shortage of engineering talent,” said Jeremy Johnson, co-founder and CEO of Andela. “Given our access to incredible talent across Africa, as well as what we’ve learned from scaling hundreds of engineering teams around the world, Andela is able to provide the talent and the technology to power high-performing teams and help companies adopt the distributed model faster.” ///////////////// Decision Inc launches Dynamics 365 F&O app on Microsoft AppSource S oftware solutions provider and Microsoft ERP gold partner Decision Inc Immix has introduced D365 Internal Stores Requisition Management (ISRM), the first Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (F&O) application to hit the Microsoft AppSource business applications store in South Africa. management in ways that were previously not possible – all within the convenience of a user-friendly interface.” Other functionality includes the ability to manage multiple workflow processes, provide approval levels per employee, and real-time cost allocation that can be checked against the appropriate budget. “The D365 ISRM app is filling a much-needed gap in the market and has been developed to enhance operations with a user-friendly solution,” said Nikki Isherwood, Chief Sales Officer at Decision Inc Immix. The app extends the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O and is designed to improve the functioning of stores within an organisation. It enables users to communicate their requirements for goods such as parts, consumables, and other items, through an internal stores requisition feature. This not only greatly improves organisational efficiency but empowers people to take charge of a previously cumbersome process. “We believe in the great value ISRM can add to warehousing, to improve efficiency while reducing costs,” added Isherwood. “By integrating with Dynamics 365 supply chain management, organisations can embark on collaborative planning and inventory www.intelligentcio.com INTELLIGENTCIO 9
