NEWS Kaspersky Lab to open office in Rwanda to boost East African presence K aspersky Lab has announced plans to open a new office in Kigali, Rwanda, to support the rapid growth of its business in East Africa. This strategic move will provide more room for development as well as closer proximity to new partners in the region, allowing Kaspersky Lab to continue its expansion into the promising African market. “Governments and enterprises across Africa need an integrated approach to complex threat detection and response as they fight cybercriminals who have significant financial resources and are constantly looking to exploit any vulnerability,” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab. The Kigali office will serve the requirements of the growing number of partners and customers in the region. Kaspersky Lab’s award-winning solutions and services will be offered to all industries and for all kinds of businesses in Rwanda and the wider region. “We see great potential in the African market, especially with the current Digital Transformation initiatives that are in place,” said Amir Kanaan, Managing Director at Kaspersky Lab for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. “Nations across the continent are adopting new technologies to facilitate and enhance the way they do business. While a few years ago it was enough to have a strategy to prevent infection, today businesses have to be able to detect when they are infected or hacked, predict hacker behaviour and respond to attacks quickly to ensure minimal damage and impact. We can support in achieving this.” ////////////////// Ulwembu’s Smart Integration steps up office automation offering S mart Integration, a wholly owned Ulwembu Business Services organisation, has achieved KNX Certified Partner status, which will further empower the company in offering true integration within the office automation space. “KNX is an open protocol that is rapidly moving up on the list of required certifications named by companies operating in the building automation industry,” said Glenn Noome, Director at Smart Integration. “Due to its open nature, KNX can be used as part of a wide range of products, including lighting and audio automation, blind control, security, energy, metering and building management amongst other solutions – integrating different manufacturers’ products seamlessly. Quite frequently businesses would need manufacturer-specific controls, but KNX is changing things up – and Smart Integration is excited to be a part of the disruption.” Noome says manufacturers that do not embrace open protocol will soon be left behind, since businesses simply do not want to be tied to one specific make and model anymore. “As a KNX Certified Partner, we are now playing on a new field, one that offers our clients many benefits, including the seamless integration and interoperability of multiple manufacturers’ products via a future-proof international standard,” he said. 12 INTELLIGENTCIO www.intelligentcio.com
