COUNTRY COUNTRY FOCUS: NAMIBIA FOCUS: “The original idea came from offering customers the option of one contract where they have the experience of fast reliable Internet using fibre to the home without having to sign up for multiple data subscriptions when away from home.” Mumwe clients can, for example, have a single fibre to the home subscription and access the same data pool using Fixed-LTE or have complete mobility with Mobile-LTE where the network coverage provides for. This also streamlines management of data usage as one merely needs to keep an eye on one centralised data pool instead of multiple data contracts. www.intelligentcio.com “People have become so reliant on their Internet connection that it even goes on holiday with them,” added Hall. “We have now introduced a solution that helps our customers avoid signing multiple data contracts. Mumwe is a combined offering that could provide cost savings in the process.” Fast fibre Internet access Gobabis, a city in eastern Namibia, now has lightning fast reliable fibre Internet access thanks to Paratus, who is offering its standard range of fibre packages to businesses and residents. Paratus recently completed a national fibre project, connecting from the WACS landing station in Swakopmund eastward to the border of Botswana and dropped off in various towns en route of which Gobabis was one. Hall said it was a natural progression for Paratus to start connecting the towns en route of the first privately owned national back-haul fibre network through Namibia. “We will continue on our relentless drive to make investments towards elevating our citizens to gain access to fast and reliable Internet services,” he said.
