PROJECT UPDATE MOROCCO The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) has announced that the consortium of EDF, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – Masdar, and Green of Africa, Moroccan Independent Power Producer, is the successful bidder for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of Noor Midelt I multi-technologies solar power plant. With a capacity of 800MW, this innovative hybrid solar project gathers concentrated solar power (CSP) and photovoltaic (PV) technologies. The hybridisation of these technologies is a world first. The plant will be located 20km north of the town of Midelt in central Morocco, with construction expected to begin in the last quarter of 2019. RWANDA The African IXP Association, in partnership with the Internet Society, has signed an agreement with the Rwanda Internet Community and Technology Alliance (RICTA) to establish an administrative secretariat in Kigali. This agreement follows the successful completion of a call for proposals designed to help the African IXP Association develop its governance structure and administrative capacity in order to more effectively manage its growing portfolio of activities. “It clearly reflects our industry’s extraordinary growth and our community’s strong spirit of cooperation,” said Kyle Spencer, Co-Coordinator of the African IXP Association. “We look forward to working with RICTA on this project. They have proven expertise that is complemented by Rwanda’s central geographic location, business friendly market environment, and fluency in multiple regional languages.” www.intelligentcio.com INTELLIGENTCIO 23
