Global business communications services provider Infobip has announced it will provide WhatsApp customer communication services and its Conversations CPaaS-based contact centre solution to leading Senegal mobile operator Expresso . Mobile operators worldwide are increasingly adopting cloud-based customer communication solutions , in no small part driven by the COVID-19 pandemic which stressed the need to make remote services available to subscribers .

On International Youth Day , the African Development Bank announced the enrolment of 130,000 users in its Coding for Employment digital skills programme . The milestone comes as Coding for Employment works to equip African youth with information and communication technology , entrepreneurship and soft-skills training to compete in a digital economy .

Pan-African banking group , Ecobank Group , in partnership with Microsoft , LinkedIn , GitHub and Ecobank Academy is set to provide training to equip small and medium-sized enterprises ( SMEs ) across sub-Saharan Africa . The training will provide SMEs digital skills and knowledge to succeed in today ’ s digital world . Ecobank through its Commercial Banking segment is helping business owners close the digital skills gap within their chosen fields and improve the digital capabilities of their employees .

SOUTH AFRICA
Data Management Professionals South Africa ( DMP SA ) has joined forces with Gabsten Technologies to deliver end-to-end data management services , solutions and consulting . Leveraging the synergies between the two companies , while remaining two separate brands and identities , the organisations will be able to share resources and deliver a comprehensive , consistent offering to a broader market , with enhanced customer service capability . Both DMP South Africa and Gabsten have similar offerings , including a focus on the Commvault solution set . Working together will enable both companies to deliver value-added services through a single , unified offering and shared skill sets .
Telco equipment vendor Nokia has come together with multiple stakeholders , including Safaricom , UNICEF and the Kenyan Ministries of Education and ICT , to connect close to 90 schools to the Internet in Kenya . Both rural and disadvantaged urban settlements have benefitted from the initiative , which also supports digitisation and digital literacy . The initiative aims to ‘ connect the unconnected ’, with the ultimate goal of supporting the Kenyan Government ’ s plans to scale broadband connection to all schools by 2030 . The connected schools are spread across rural and informal urban settlements in Kenya , serving an estimated 32,670 students .
