Machine Learning can solve some of Africa ’ s biggest challenges

Marilyn Moodley , Country Leader , South Africa and West , East , Central Africa ( WECA ), SoftwareONE , said Machine Learning can help with some of the region ’ s most pervasive problems , from reducing poverty and improving education to delivering healthcare and addressing sustainability challenges such as food demand .

From better healthcare access to improved food security , Machine Learning could tackle a wide range of challenges in developing countries .

In 2020 , a study published in Nature showed that Google ’ s Machine Learning Artificial
Intelligence programme , DeepMind AI , outperformed radiologists in detecting breast cancer . After being trained on thousands of mammograms , the system was able to accurately identify 89 % of breast cancer cases , compared to radiologists ’ 74 %. Just imagine what a difference the deployment of

Cisco AppDynamics appoints David Noël as general vice president EMEAR

Business observability platform vendor Cisco AppDynamics has announced the promotion of David Noël to the role of General Vice President , Europe , Middle East , Africa and Russia ( EMEAR ), with responsibility for leading sales operations and growing the AppDynamics business in the broad region .

“ David has been a driving force for Cisco AppDynamics over the past five years , and this promotion is a recognition of the success he ’ s achieved within the region ” commented Nick Bogaty , Chief Revenue and Customer Officer , Cisco AppDynamics .
Noël joined AppDynamics in 2016 and has held a variety of leadership positions during his tenure . Most recently , he was the regional VP Southern Europe , Middle East and Africa ( SEMEA ).

David will report to Nick Bogaty , Chief Revenue and Customer Officer , while his previous role will be filled by new Regional VP SEMEA , Kenan Abou Lteif .
