The call was made recently at the Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association ( NITRA ) ‘ ICT Growth Conference ’ in Lagos .

KENYA
GE Healthcare and Kenya-based start-up Afya Rekod have announced a strategic collaboration that seeks to transform care delivery through improved access to personal health data in Kenya , Nigeria , and South Africa . The partnership will give patients an accessible record of their own health history , including radiological images , by enabling hospitals and diagnostic centres to host health records securely on one platform through a digital application . This partnership will enable patients and clinicians to access data and generate clinical , operational , and financial insights that provide them with a more holistic view of the patient .

Temenos , the banking software company has announced that Bank of Kigali Plc , Rwanda ’ s largest bank by assets and market share , has gone live on Temenos . Replacing its core banking system with Temenos open platform for composable banking allows the bank to break free from legacy constraints and accelerate its Digital Transformation . Bank of Kigali can now quickly expand its digital channels and engagement to deliver faster and smarter customer experiences .

SOUTH AFRICA
Meta has announced it is expanding the availability of Facebook Reels for iOS and Android to more than 20 countries across sub-Saharan Africa . Meta is also introducing better ways to help creators to earn money , new creation tools and more places to watch and create Facebook Reels . Prior to this launch , Reels was available on Facebook in India , Mexico , Canada , US and is now available across sub-Saharan Africa in 20 countries .

MALAWI
The African Development Fund ( ADF ) and the government of Malawi have signed a grant agreement for US $ 14.2 million to undertake infrastructure upgrades and create a more efficient and transparent digital payment system . Funding for the Support for Digitalisation , Financial Inclusion and Competitiveness ( DFIC ) project , approved in December 2021 , will be sourced from ADF , the Bank Group ’ s concessional financing window . The project will widen financial inclusion in Malawi , in particular to women , youth and rural dwellers . It will also allow for efficient business transactions , offering small businesses the opportunity to gain access to new national and international markets .
