Skills development plays a crucial role in bridging this ever-widening gap .
The graduate unemployment rate in South Africa was 40.3 % for those aged 15 – 24 and 15.5 % for 25 – 34 years . This indicates that young people still struggle to find employment , which highlights the significance of initiatives like these in fostering young people and providing them with the skills and work exposure to increase their employment prospects . purpose of empowering marginalised South African youth to become certified cybersecurity specialists . The programme celebrated a great milestone in 2022 with the graduation of the first cohort of students , all of whom have subsequently taken up internship positions in Absa in order to gain valuable work experience .
As Absa , we are dedicated to equipping the youth with the tools , knowledge , and skills that they need to have a voice in the development of products and services of the future . We will continue to expand our investment into youth upskilling and employability , it is important and will not only benefit the individual , but it will build a better South African economy . p
