Solution snapshot
The primary role of the Axis solution is to facilitate student and staff safety , as well as to protect University resources . This is done by ensuring visibility across campuses , walk-ways , student shared areas and inside of buildings . There is also an element that deals with operations via the license plate recognition solution , at all gates , to keep record of all vehicles entering campuses . These feeds are fed into a primary control room at the UWC main campus and operated by campus security personnel .
The video feed is managed via Cathexis video management software , an Axis Integration Partner , which provides for scrubbing of video , incident alerts and features specifically for control room operators . Bulk of the cameras are made up of Axis P14 bullets and P32 domes .
Axis P-Series
Ideal for 24x7 video surveillance , these compact , outdoor-ready bullet cameras are available in resolutions from HDTV 1080p resolution up to 4K . The series includes models featuring a deep learning processing unit to enable improved processing and storage capabilities . AXIS P-Series can be connected to Axis network speakers to enable two-way audio .
Axis M-Series
AXIS M-Series offers attractively priced mini domes suitable for indoor and outdoor surveillance . Featuring wide angle views and excellent video quality up to 12 MP , the series includes panoramic cameras for complete situational awareness with just one device . Ideal for surveillance in a wide range of locations , these domes include wide dynamic range for good details even in challenging light conditions . Axis Lightfinder helps in improved sensitivity in poor light and high-quality colour images even when they are recorded in near darkness .
Axis F-Series
This series offers high-performance modular cameras designed for indoor , outdoor , onboard surveillance . This generation ensures discreet surveillance with easy integration . It includes two rugged main units , two UL recognised barebone main units , and five ruggedised sensors . Based on a divided camera concept , the main unit , sensor , and cable are chosen based on individual needs for a fully modular system . They are ideal for installation in ATMs , banks , stores , hotels , as well as onboard environments such as emergency vehicles , buses , and trucks .
License plate recognition
The LPR solution consists of a purpose-built camera with pre-installed Axis or partner analytics that runs either on the camera , in the cloud or on a server . The analytics automatically captures the license plate in real time , compares or adds it to a list and then takes appropriate action such as opening a gate , adding a cost , or generating an alert . Depending on surrounding light , the solution may require cameras with built-in IR-light or additional light sources for optimal performance .
Zipstream
Axis Zipstream technology was launched in 2015 and from the start was different because it identified and preserved areas of forensic interest . Unlike most compression technology , Zipstream does not just limit bitrate . Instead , three kinds of intelligent algorithms ensure that relevant forensic information is identified , recorded , and sent in full resolution and at full frame rate . Proprietary Dynamic ROI , Dynamic GOP , and Dynamic FPS work together in real-time to preserve faces , tattoos , or license plate numbers .
