The Royal Eswatini Sugar Corp is the largest listed company in Eswatini with interests in sugar cane farming and manufacturing of refined sugar products and ethanol for regional consumption and export to the rest of Africa , Europe , and Asia . It produces two-thirds of the country ’ s sugar and more than 35 million litres of ethanol per year .
It is also involved in cattle and game farming , as well as ecotourism . It produces beverage-grade ethanol for use in alcoholic beverages as well as pharmaceuticals and water treatment products . The company produces feints used to manufacture methylated spirits and bio gels . It also produces concentrated molasses stillage used to produce liquid fertilisers .
Royal Eswatini Sugar Corp manages approximately 21,700 hectares of irrigated sugar cane on three estates leased from the Eswatini nation and manages an additional 2,750 hectares on behalf of third parties . It has the potential to produce 2.4 million tonnes of cane per season and when combined with cane from growers , about 470,000 metric tonnes of sugar per season .
The company employs over 4,500 people , and more than 2,500 families in the community are involved in cane production . Royal Eswatini Sugar Corp provides housing and all infrastructure for its employees and dependents . The company also supports seven government-owned schools serving its communities and supports broader infrastructure around its farms and production facilities .
