According to recent research by Accenture into the ICT ecosystem , it was revealed that Africa is on the brink of a technology explosion . The consulting firm says certain countries are on a particularly rapid trajectory .

Senegal is one of the smaller markets for eCommerce with a predicted revenue of US $ 213.6 million by 2023 . Revenue is expected to show a compound annual growth rate , CAGR 2023 – 2027 of 11.4 %, resulting in a projected market volume of US $ 328.6 million by 2027 .
With an expected increase of 13.0 % in 2023 , the Senegalese eCommerce market contributed to the worldwide growth rate of 17.0 % in 2023 . Like in Senegal , global eCommerce sales are expected to increase over the next years .
Five markets are considered by ecommerceDB within the Senegalese eCommerce market . Food and Personal Care is the largest market and accounts for 44.3 % of the Senegalese eCommerce revenue . It is followed by Electronics and Media with 21.1 %, Fashion with 19.2 %, Toys , Hobby , and DIY with 8.3 %, and Furniture and Appliances with the remaining 7.0 %.
The Port of Dakar , responsible for 9 % of Senegal ’ s international trade volume , is well served by major shipping lines . It serves as a trans-shipment centre for landlocked nations in West Africa , featuring deep draft of 11 meters and a wide access channel allowing round-the-clock access .
By 2050 , the share of the economy powered by the Internet , iGDP in Kenya , Morocco , Senegal , and South Africa will be approximately 6 %, like where the US is today . While others , like Ghana , are set to reach between 4 to 5 % iGDP , comparable to Brazil ’ s present level .

This new collective intelligence centre will welcome several hundred young talent from Senegal in the Atos offices in Cité Keur Gorgui in Dakar .
This initiative is part of a strategic partnership that aims to accelerate the digital transformation in Africa , by enabling the massification of world-class digital skills through an innovative and inclusive training of excellence on the continent .
The GOS and various private sector partners are pursuing new state of-the-art port projects , including a new bulk and mineral port in Bargny and a new container terminal in Ndayane , both located south of Dakar .

In May this year , Africa Data Centres , a business of Cassava Technologies group announced it has formed a strategic partnership with The London Internet Exchange , LINX to explore growth and opportunities in current and new markets across the continent Africa including Senegal .
