Ericsson, has completed the transformation of UNITEL SA’ s existing core network in Angola, implementing the Ericsson dualmode 5G Core, IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, and Cloud Native Infrastructure solutions.
This modernisation is based on a future-proof network architecture that allows UNITEL to integrate 4G and 5G technologies on a single platform.

SENEGAL
Orange Africa and Middle East and Eutelsat announced a strategic partnership to bridge the digital divide through satellite connectivity in Africa and the Middle East. It aims to connect isolated areas with broadband access, thereby strengthening digital inclusion in the region. Initially, deployment will involve Côte d’ Ivoire, Senegal and Democratic Republic of Congo, with the aim of gradually extending to all countries in the region.

EGYPT
Careem has launched the Careem Pay payments platform in Egypt. Careem Pay, the payments platform within the Careem app, expanded its remittance service to Egypt, allowing UAE residents to send money directly to bank accounts in Egypt. The UAE is home to a large Egyptian expat population, making Egypt one of the top five recipients of remittances from the UAE. In recent years, the market size of remittance from UAE to Egypt has been estimated at US $ 10B.

ZIMBABWE
Ericsson and Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, have signed an agreement for the introduction of 5G Core functions, the necessary ingredient for the deployment of 5G Standalone. This is an expansion of its core network capacity, and the introduction of Ericsson Cloud Core Exposure Server, CCES, Ericsson’ s cloudnative service exposure function, to its network.
Following the success of chapter one in the GCC, Kia is expanding this partnership with chapter two to Africa, specifically in Zambia, in collaboration with The Waste Lab, African Education Programme and ElectricLime Films.
Kia and its partners will integrate sustainable food waste management, regenerative agriculture that drive long-term environmental change.
Commvault recently hosted its Minutes to Meltdown event in Johannesburg and Cape Town. This event, led by the company’ s security experts, was an interactive and detailed ransomware attack simulation designed to help companies understand how to respond in the event of a cyberattack. The Minutes to Meltdown cyberattack simulation is a global event that Commvault is hosting for the first time in South Africa.
