CONNECTING THE CLASSROOM WITH INTELLIGENCE

Drawing on his experience in tech leadership and education, Samuel Mbai, Chief ICT Officer at the University of Nairobi, developed SIIMS to address persistent challenges around data, accountability and institutional performance. He discusses how the platform is evolving into a scalable model for AI-driven education transformation.
The School Integrated Intelligence Management System is bringing AI, biometrics, cloud computing and real-time analytics together to transform fragmented school administration into a connected, intelligent education ecosystem.
The School Integrated Intelligence Management System( SIIMS) was born from a simple frustration: why should school leaders wait days or weeks for information that should be available in seconds? Combining cloud computing, AI, biometrics, analytics and real-time data, the platform aims to move education institutions beyond digitisation towards intelligence.
What were the biggest operational and educational challenges that led you to develop SIIMS, and why did you believe existing school management systems were no longer sufficient?
The idea for SIIMS came from my experiences both as a technology leader and as a board
