Airtel Rwanda and NCSA partner to strengthen cybersecurity skills

Rwanda’ s National Cyber Security Authority( NCSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding( MoU) with Airtel Rwanda to strengthen cybersecurity capacity building and develop digital talent to support the country’ s growing digital economy.

Under the agreement, Airtel Rwanda will conduct cybersecurity career guidance masterclasses led by industry experts, providing students with practical insights into career opportunities, employer expectations and the skills required to succeed in the cybersecurity industry.
The partnership will also create internship and career development opportunities for students enrolled at Rwanda’ s CyberHub, allowing them to gain practical experience in a corporate environment.
Students will have access to structured industrial internships across several Airtel Rwanda departments, including Network and IT, Enterprise Technical Solutions, mobile money and fintech, marketing, telecommunications finance and accounting, and customer experience.
Outstanding CyberHub graduates will also be considered for graduate trainee and entry-level positions within Airtel Rwanda. The telecommunications operator will share information on job vacancies, early-career programmes and industry skill requirements to help students prepare for employment opportunities.
“ Airtel Rwanda is a key partner in protecting Rwanda’ s digital infrastructure, and so we are pleased to establish this agreement to build cybersecurity capacity and support the CyberHub in producing top talent for the industry,” said David Kanamugire, CEO of NCSA.
Sujay Chakrabarti, Managing Director of Airtel Rwanda, said the partnership reflects the company’ s commitment to developing digital skills and strengthening national cyber resilience.

Kenya secures funding for Konza National Data Centre expansion

Kenya’ s Public-Private Partnerships( PPP) Directorate has signed a funding agreement with the Konza Technopolis Development Authority( KoTDA) to support preparatory activities for the Konza National Data Centre Cloud Expansion and Smart City Facilities Project.

The agreement was signed following a meeting between PPP Director General Eng. Kefa Seda and KoTDA Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri, marking a step towards strengthening Kenya’ s digital infrastructure and sovereign cloud capabilities.
The project, which was incorporated into the PPP pipeline in December 2025, aims to expand and modernise the Konza National Data Centre( KNDC) infrastructure to meet growing demand for cloud services and support emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence( AI).
The funding will support project preparation activities, including the appointment of a transaction adviser to structure the initiative for market engagement and facilitate the eventual selection of a private-sector partner.
The proposed expansion is expected to strengthen Kenya’ s digital infrastructure, enhance sovereign cloud capabilities and accelerate the digitisation of government services.
It will also support the development of smart city facilities and provide scalable infrastructure for the country’ s growing digital economy.
The initiative forms part of Kenya’ s broader efforts to leverage public-private partnerships to accelerate infrastructure development, attract private-sector investment and strengthen the delivery of digital public services.
Through the project, the PPP Directorate aims to support innovation, create economic opportunities and improve service delivery to citizens while establishing a stronger foundation for emerging technologies and cloud-based applications. •
