LATEST REGIONAL PROJECT UPDATE TOGO The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) has revealed an operational set of standards and guidelines to be followed under the recently signed Entrepreneurship Support Agreement with the Togolese Republic (Togo). The strategic agreement will provide funding assistance of over US$15 million to SMEs in Togo, eventually resulting in the financing of over 3,700 projects and the opening of around 13,000 job opportunities. The fund is expected to help support micro and SME projects, especially across priority segments like the agricultural and technology sectors of the country. SOUTH SUDAN The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank has approved a proposal to commit US $24.7 million to finance the South Sudan Strategic Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project. It will additionally cover the development of solar powered water distributions systems and sanitation and hygiene promotion in high- density rural communities surrounding Juba, as well as capacity development in the relevant water institutions. Implementation will commence during the 2019/2020 financial year, with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the South Sudan Urban Water Corporation serving as the executing and implementing agencies, respectively. 22 INTELLIGENTCIO www.intelligentcio.com
