NEWS TymeBank is rated as one of South Africa’s top three digital banks TymeBank was launched just 18 months ago and has already been rated as one of the top three digital banks in South Africa by SITEisfaction. It follows on from the recent Forbes accolade, which claimed TymeBank as the second-best bank in the country due to its high levels of customer satisfaction and key qualities like trust, banking fees, digital services and financial advice. The latest report measures customer satisfaction with digital banking services – TymeBank was recognised for the bank’s userfriendliness, safety features and affordability. Affordability was particularly appreciated by those who had recently switched, with the majority saying they switched because of the bank’s low transaction fees and market-leading high-interest rates on all savings. According to the report, banks traditionally perform better among primary users of an account (the bank account used most often for all banking transactions) than secondary users, but this was not the case with TymeBank: both its Internet and mobile banking platforms performed exceptionally well among primary and secondary users. TymeBank CEO, Tauriq Keraan, said: “As with the Forbes accolade, we again value the objective commentary from independent industry players on how we engage our customers. Our primary goal is to make banking services more accessible to ordinary South Africans.” Intelsat and Liquid Telecom announce agreement to extend partnership Intelsat and Liquid Telecom have decided to extend their partnership agreement. Since 2016, the companies have collaborated to bring broadband and other critical communications services to people throughout Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. Intelsat was the first operator to introduce satellite services on the continent, sparking the growth of critical communications infrastructure, and has been an integral part of Africa’s communications fabric since 1965. It was also a crucial component to the delivery of Liquid Telecom’s multi-awardwinning very-small-aperture terminal (VSAT) service thanks to its high-throughput satellite fleet, providing a robust, secure and reliable communications network to communities, schools and businesses in 20 countries across the African continent. Liquid Telecom Satellite Services CEO, Scott Mumford, said: “Extending our partnership with Intelsat will enable us to continue developing VSAT products with highefficiency models and ubiquitous coverage; in fact, Liquid Telecom has just added three new high-performance VSAT service offerings to our portfolio, each with a range of data volume options.” Through the partnership extension, Liquid Telecom will be able to connect more than 2,000 additional VSAT terminals in Africa. This will ensure the continuity of high speed, reliable satellite connectivity to mobile operators, carriers, enterprise, media, content companies and retail customers across the continent. www.intelligentcio.com INTELLIGENTCIO 9
