Liquid Intelligent Technologies , Africell , Safaricom are the most prominent African technology and telecom operators that have recently secured international financing rounds .
Kenya ’ s Safaricom , is supported backed by a $ 500 million investment from United States ’ Development Finance Corporation . It is building a consortium for a new mobile network in Ethiopia , which remains the most populated country in East Africa .
Africell , which has 12 million mobile subscribers in Gambia , Uganda , DRC and Sierra Leone , has secured a $ 105 million loan facility from a group of financiers led by Gemcorp . The investment is also meant to build a new mobile network in Angola .
