EGYPT
Deloitte announced the official launch of the Deloitte Innovation Hub in Cairo , marking a significant milestone in the firm ’ s commitment to driving innovation and harnessing top-tier talent in this emerging market . The event was attended by Egypt ’ s Minister of Information , Communications and Technology , Amr Talaat , and the CEO of the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency , ITIDA , Ahmed El Zaher . The hub has expanded to over 350 of Egypt ’ s top talent , including fresh graduates and experienced hires , reinforcing its commitment to nurturing and empowering local talent .

ETHIOPIA
The electricity highway between Ethiopia and Kenya , officially opened in 2023 after more than 10 years of planning and construction , is redefining energy connectivity in East Africa . One of the project ’ s critical aspects is the use of HVDC , High Voltage Direct Current technology , which makes it much easier to transport electricity with long distance transmission lines . This high voltage DC infrastructure is the only one of its kind in the region and is the foundation of East Africa ’ s ambition to be interconnected in terms of power exchange and allow crossborder trade in energy .

CAMEROON
GE Vernova announced that its GridOS orchestration software is deployed in the newly completed Information and Coordination Centre , in Abomey-Calavi , Benin for the West African Power Pool . The recently inaugurated Centre will serve as the centralised command centre for the mainland member countries of the Economic Community of West Africa States . It will oversee the interconnected power grids of 14 nations , namely Benin , Burkina- Faso , Côte d ’ Ivoire , The Gambia , Ghana , Guinea , Guinea-Bissau , Liberia , Mali , Niger , Nigeria , Senegal , Sierra Leone , and Togo .
Orange Middle East and Africa and Mastercard have announced a strategic partnership to expand access to mobile financial services across Sub-Saharan Africa . This collaboration , one of the largest of its kind in the region , is set to enable millions of Orange Money wallet holders to access digital payments through Mastercard ’ s global network of merchants by 2025 . The partnership will be rolled out in seven countries including Cameroon , Central African Republic , Guinea-Bissau , Liberia , Mali , Senegal and Sierra Leone .

DigMo , a new financial service company that brings gamified wealth-building tools to low and middle-income earners in Zambia has been launched . Licensed by the Bank of Zambia to operate a wallet , the fintech created for underserved users provides access to engaging products with great incentives . As part of the move to expand DigMo ’ s capabilities and reach , James Chona has been appointed Chairman and will advise on efforts to grow DigMo in Zambia .
NAPAfrica , Africa ’ s Internet Exchange Point , and the seventh largest IXP globally , has reached a significant milestone , driving 4.5Tbps of traffic as its peering community continues to grow . Adding to its existing members , including Akamai , Amazon , Apple , ByteDance , TikTok , CDN77 , Cloudflare , Facebook , Meta , Google , Microsoft , and Netflix , are Mimecast , Fortinet and Tencent , cementing NAPAfrica ’ s position as a critical digital infrastructure hub for Africa ’ s Internet .
