Please describe Telkom ’ s developments programmes and how it has contributed to employee development ?
One of Telkom ’ s key development programs is the Female Leadership Development Programme , which has been running for the past 10 years . Initially focused on middle management , the programme has evolved over the last two iterations to also support junior and executive levels , aiming to build a strong pipeline of women leaders for the future .
What are your strengths and abilities that you bring to the above role ?
I approach my role with a calm and steady mindset , allowing me to navigate challenges with objectivity and fairness . I believe in listening first , understanding different perspectives , and addressing issues in a way that fosters collaboration and trust . Problem-solving comes naturally to me , and I am always looking for practical , peoplefocused solutions that create real impact .
I also have a deep curiosity and love for learning , constantly reading and exploring new ideas to improve how we support our people . I don ’ t have all the answers , but I am always willing to learn , grow , and find the best way forward .
Which generic technologies and innovations can make a difference to your end customers business ?
Technologies such as AI-driven automation , cloud computing , and 5G connectivity are transforming the telecommunications landscape and enabling businesses to operate more efficiently . AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants can enhance customer service , providing instant support and reducing response times . enabling us to make informed decisions about the capabilities needed for the future .
Understanding these shifts allows us to proactively reskill and upskill employees , ensuring they remain agile and adaptable to technological advancements .
Which non-competitive business in the region do you admire for innovative usage of technology ?
A non-competitive business in the region that stands out for its innovative use of technology is Delivery Ka Speed . Founded in July 2021 by Godiragetse Mogajane from Hammanskraal , Delivery Ka Speed , meaning Speedy Delivery in Sepitori , is revolutionising township logistics by overcoming location barriers and ensuring fast , reliable , and convenient service .
As a 100 % Black Youth-Owned SMME , it has scaled through Telkom FutureMakers , securing funding for delivery bikes , marketing and airtime sponsorships . By leveraging digital platforms and a growing network of township-based delivery partners , it enhances e-commerce accessibility , job creation , and economic inclusion in underserved communities .
Which aspects of your job role do you find rewarding and which challenging ?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is driving meaningful change , seeing employees grow , engagement levels improve , and a strong organisational culture take shape that results in strong business performance . Facilitating leadership and employee development and ensuring that HR contributes directly to Telkom ’ s success is incredibly fulfilling .
The challenge lies in balancing transformation with operational demands . Shifting mindsets in a multibusiness-unit organisation requires persistence , especially when navigating resistance to change . Additionally , ensuring that our workforce evolves alongside rapid industry advancements while managing financial constraints demands strategic foresight . However , overcoming these challenges makes each success even more meaningful .
How do you best like to de-stress and re-charge off work ?
To meet these expectations , we must ensure our workforce is equipped with the right future skills . By leveraging AI-driven data analytics and strategic workforce planning , we can anticipate industry trends and emerging skill requirements ,
I de-stress and recharge by spending quality time with my family , exploring new foods , and cooking . I find joy in trying new recipes , experimenting with ingredients , and sharing meals together . These moments help me relax , bond with loved ones , and return to work feeling refreshed and rejuvenated . p
